Sneaker Design 101 Recap
On Sunday June 14th, Palette Studio Co and Deadstock Coffee held a Shoe Design 101 course, starting with the basics - paper and a pencil. Space was very limited during this first go around, but this group was especially eager to learn the basics of footwear design. Initially, everyone was kicking back upstairs at the Compound Gallery while Mes of Sneaker Palette Co prepared his design presentation. For the time being, Ian stayed slangin' his Deadstock Coffee to keep everyone energized.
Mes' class started out with the tradition introductions. Afterwards, the students were initially asked to trace over existing Nike silhouettes. The purpose behind this tracing was to help train their hands into drawing the basic lines/anatomy of most shoes. Midway through the session, shoe design extraordinaire E. Scott Morris stopped by to share some of his past experiences with the class. He also brought in some of his older work to showcase what footwear design used to look like prior to the digital age.
Huge thanks to everyone who showed up to the event. There were positive vibes throughout the night, and hopefully the energy carries over to the next class!
